F-22 Raptor: The Soon-To-Be-Obsolete Stealth Fighter?

Image
The F-22 Raptor is one of the most advanced aircraft to ever take to the skies. It is still unmatched as an air superiority fighter. The jet is still on the ramparts, as well. Only recently, the Pentagon forward-deployed the F-22 Raptor to Japan as a deterrent against Chinese and North Korean aggression.  However, the first stealth fighter jet is getting old. It first flew 25 years ago and has been in service for almost 18 years. A Superior Machine  The F-22 Raptor entered service in 2005. The world’s first fifth-generation fighter, it instantly became the U.S. Air Force’s most com Pet ent air superiority aircraft. An extremely flexible aircraft, the F-22 Raptor uses two Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 turbofan engines that can produce more than 70,000 pounds of combined thrust. Moreover, the aircraft is equipped with a two-dimensional thrust vectoring system that allows it to perform some amazing air acrobatics – the F-22 Raptor can be flying in one direction and

The Largest Aircraft Ever Built

While size does matter, it is not necessarily always a measure of aviation power. However, this did not stop gifted engineers, who have, for decades now, been designing vehicles of such magnitude that their very ability to leave the ground was already impressive. Today we are going to take a look at 10 of the largest planes, all with their own unique story. Today we are going to take a look at 10 of the largest planes, all with their own unique story. Image
HII, America’s only builder of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and leading provider of mission-driven defense technologies, celebrated the ceremonial keel-laying of aircraft carrier Enterprise (CVN 80) at its Newport News Shipbuilding division Aug. 27 2022. U.S. Olympic gold medalists Simone Biles and Katie Ledecky are the ship’s sponsors. Ledecky attended in person, while Biles participated via video, as the pair marked the important first milestone in construction of the aircraft carrier. During the ceremony, Biles and Ledecky’s initials were welded onto a steel plate that will be permanently affixed to the ship, signifying the sponsors’ enduring relationship with the shipbuilders and crew. In his remarks, Under Secretary of the Navy Erik Raven stressed the significance of aircraft carriers, calling upon shipbuilders to recognize the importance of what they build. NNS President Jennifer Boykin spoke highly of the skilled shipbuilders constructing Enterprise, highli

After four years, Lockheed Martin completes the new F-16 fighter.

Image
First F-16 Block 70/72 was produced in Greenville and will be delivered to the Bahrain Air Force After a hiatus of about four years , Lockheed Martin has completed assembly of a new F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter . The Block 70/72 aircraft belongs to the Bahrain Air Force and was produced at the company’s new factory in Greenville, in South Carolina. The first flight of the fighter is scheduled for early 2023. F-16 production was halted in 2018 at Lockheed Martin’s headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, to make room for the new assembly line for the F-35 Lightning II, which became the focus of the facility. In the meantime, the US company has set up an additional plant in Greenville to continue production of the F-16. The unit opened in 2021. According to Lockheed, the new production line in South Carolina is set to build at least another 128 Block 70/72 F-16s by the end of this decade for five customers. In addition to Bahrain, the new F-16s will be assembled for Slovakia

No Money for the F-35? The best non-stealth fighter may be the JAS 39 Gripen

Image
Swedish defense giant Saab is ending the year on a high note. Last week, the aerospace firm finalized a deal with the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration to ensure continued operability and provide capability enhancements to the JAS 39 Gripen (Griffin) C/D  fighter aircraft. 5 of the World’s Fastest Fighter Jets That Are Still In Use Today

Image
It is undeniable, that ancient or ancient fighter jets have become Technology that has been reaping admiration to this day. For example, the F-15 Eagle and MiG-29 were rivals in their time. This of course cannot be separated from how today’s fighter jets are made. By paying attention to the details and existing Technology , a more modern fighter jet was formed. However, unfortunately not all modern fighter jets can satisfy today’s engineers and experts. In fact, in terms of speed, it is known that most of the ancient fighter jets dominated. So, which are the fastest fighter jets in the world? According to the Bulgarian Military , here is a list of active and fastest fighter jets in the world! Grumman F-14 Tomcat (2,485 km/h), USAIt is undeniable that the Tomcat is an older generation. In fact, the film Top Gun: Maverick illustrates how this jet lacks the features of today’s era. In this case, in fact the Tomcat is still used by Iran. Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp

It’s wonderful that the United States has unveiled its newest VTOL helicopter.

When the US bought the Harrier they must obviously have bought the Technology (intellectual property), not a bad deal considering they had the steam train, the Jet engine, RADAR and the Hovercraft for nothing. US designed haha. Great British pilot though. Another British pilot once lost communications and radar durong carrier operations in the middle of the Atlantic, and managed to land his Harrier on top of shipping containers on a cargo ship before running out of fuel. The captain was not happy, but they were compensated for the incident. The United States Marine Corps (USMC) began crew training for the MV-22B Osprey in 2000 and fielded it in 2007; it supplemented and then replaced their Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knights. The U.S. Air Force (USAF) fielded their version of the tiltrotor, the CV-22B, in 2009. Since entering service with the Marine Corps and Air Force, the Osprey has been deployed in transportation and medevac operations over Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and

WASHINGTON – Norwegian authorities on Friday searched for an US Marine Corps airplane that went missing during a drill. The Norwegian Military said in a declaration that the Marine Osprey was reported missing out on Friday evening when it did not make an arranged arrival at the Arctic Circle community of Figure. North Norway’s Civilian Joint Rescue Coordination Center released a search as well as rescue operation. Late Friday, the Norwegian Military stated the “exploration was made from the air” south of Bod, adding, “As a result of climate condition, it was not feasible to get in the website from the air.” The Marine Corps stated on Twitter, “We can confirm a case has happened including a Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey airplane. The source of the incident is being investigated, as well as additional details will certainly be provided as they appear.” Norway claimed the airplane, which has a crew of 4, joined the Cold Action army workout, in which NATO participants “

The AC-130J Ghostrider is the greatest close-air support and combat aircraft

The LCAC program is in serial pr

A ship of the American Navy, the USS Midway, served for 50 years

Image
Few of its first crew members could have imagined the ship would still be sailing into cσmbαt forty-six years later, her deck laden with supersonic jet fighters. Key Point: The ship had a record any ship designer would envy. The world’s largest battleship for a decade was launched on March 20, 1945, at the Newport News shipyard in Virginia. She would be commissioned on September 8 and given the name USS Midway in honor of the pivotal World wαr II carrier cσmbαt, which occurred just a few weeks after Japan’s capitulation. Few of the more than 4,000 men who set out on Midway’s first patrol could have guessed that same ship—admittedly in significantly altered form—would be saddling up for battle 46 years later, her deck crammed with supersonic jet fighters. The USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (aka “Rosey”), the first American carrier to be named after a past U.S. president, joined Midway a month later. Roosevelt was built in New York. USS Coral Sea, the final vessel of the clas

France’s aircraft carrier fighter jet, the Rafale M, makes Russia perspire

Image
Rafale M: The Omnivorous “Omnirole” Fighter – “Flexibility is the key to airpower,” quoth the 20th century Italian airpower strategic Gen. Giulio Douhet (1869 – 1930), and this is a tenet that’s hammered into the heads of young aspiring U.S. Air Force officers early on during their training phases as cadets in the Air Force Academy and Reserve Officers Training Corps (AFROTC) or as as trainees at Officer Training School (OTS). However, ours isn’t the only nation’s air force to take Gen. Douhet’s dictum to heart. The French Air Force (Armée de l’air et de l’espace) and French Naval Aviation (Force maritime de l’aéronautique navale, or simply Aéronavale for short) alike are embodying the Douhet doctrine in the form of the Dassault Rafale “omnirole” (a fancy adjective for multirole) fighter. Let’s take a closer look at the Rafale, with a particular emphasis on the Rafale M naval variant. Omnivorous Omnirole The Dassault Rafale (literally meaning “gust of wind” and “burst o

What Happens If a Pilot Can’t Touch Down on US Aircraft Carriers?

Image
Excellent with all the measures taken to make it extraordinarily clear and informative. For them, Business is Business . The leap forward in Science and Technology and its application in defense is astounding. Those aircraft carrier pilots are very well trained, BEFORE they are assigned to a carrier. They have practiced the short landing on the ground, they know hot to “bolter” of they miss one of the grab-cables, so very rarely is there a bad landing.  Of course if the aircraft has been in combat and has damage, they handle that too, the best way they know how.  It isn’t often that an aircraft landing goes off the deck, they prepare for that also, but should their damaged aircraft miss the cables and can’t bolter, there is a net that can be quickly spread across the opposite end of the carrier to catch them, because it’s always possible that an aircraft took damaging enemy fire and has any number of problems getting that bird safely on the deck!  But they are very good
