Key point: Washington has completed tests of a drone sub marine that is capable of making long trips by itself. This is an important step towards warships that can fight on their own. At a Military parade celebrating its 70th anniversary, amongst many other exotic ωεɑρσռs, two HSU-001 sub marine s—the world’s first large diameter autonomous sub marine s to enter Military service. BIGGEST MARINE ENGINE EVER MADE The Wärtsilä RT-flex96C is a turbocharged, two-stroke piston diesel engine designed to power large container ships and is the world’s largest engine . Built at Aioi Works of Diesel United, Ltd., Japan, it measures 27 meters (88 ft 7 in) long, 13.5 meters (44 ft 4 in) high and weighs over 2,300 tons. Using advanced fuel injection methods that eliminate traditional camshafts, sprockets, fuel pumps and hydraulic actuators, the 14-cylinder version’s power output reached 84.42 Megawatts (114,800 bhp [brake horsepower]) in 2008. Thus, it achieved better performance with lower fuel consumption and lower harmful emissions. The engine powers the MV Emma Maersk, the world’s largest container ship.
