The leap forward in Science and Technology and its application in defense is astounding. Those aircraft carrier pilots are very well trained, BEFORE they are assigned to a carrier. They have practiced the short landing on the ground, they know hot to “bolter” of they miss one of the grab-cables, so very rarely is there a bad landing.  Of course if the aircraft has been in combat and has damage, they handle that too, the best way they know how.  It isn’t often that an aircraft landing goes off the deck, they prepare for that also, but should their damaged aircraft miss the cables and can’t bolter, there is a net that can be quickly spread across the opposite end of the carrier to catch them, because it’s always possible that an aircraft took damaging enemy fire and has any number of problems getting that bird safely on the deck!  But they are very good...

A replacement for the outdated C-2 Greyhound will be available soon

One of the oldest aircraft employed by the United States Navy on its aircraft carriers will soon be bidding us farewell. The turbopropped, decked C-2A Greyhound, produced by Northrop Grumman in the 1960s, will be replaced by the CMV-22B, which will enter service in 2024.In today’s video, we are going to cover the technical features and advantages the CMV-22B has over its predecessor. . The first operational carrier-based unmanned aircraft in the world is being tested by the Navy

The government team, along with industry partners Boeing and Lockheed Martin, conducted a demonstration aboard the carrier with both ground control system (GCS) and aircraft to evaluate the MQ-25 system’s integration into the carrier environment. “There is no better way to determine the success of a carrier aircraft design and its integration into the air wing then to put that new aircraft through testing at sea,” said Capt. Chad Reed, Unmanned Carrier Aviation program manager. “I am extremely proud of our team for the stellar execution of both engine and aircraft tests, as well as the approaches flown in a surrogate aircraft.  It’s an exciting time as we progress toward the air wing of the future.” During the in-port portion of the UCAD, Lockheed Martin installed the prototype MD-5 ground control station in the Unmanned Aviation Warfare Center (UAWC), the CVN-based control room.  The team specifically demonstrated the functionality of the GCS to the MQ-25 fleet integrati...
