The most powerfull battlecruiser in the world

Image
Russian battlecruiser Pyotr VelikiyFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is the fourth Kirov-class battlecruiser of the Russian Navy. Initially named Yuri Andropov for Yuri Andropov, the former General Secretary of the Communist Party, the ship’s name was changed after the fall of the Soviet Union. The Russian designation for the type is “heavy missile cruiser ”, but Western defense commentators re-invented the term “ battlecruiser ” to describe these; the largest surface combatant warships in the world . Pyotr Velikiy is the flagship of the Northern Fleet. Construction of the ship was heavily impacted by the economic problems before and after the fall of the Soviet Union and it was not commissioned until 1998, twelve years after work had started. By then it had been renamed Pyotr Velikiy, Russian for Peter the Great. Pyotr Velikiy has been known to carry two pennant numbers during its service; “183” and currently “099”.After completing its acceptance trials in November 1996, t

The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is a fifth-generation, single-seat, twin-engine, all-weather stealth tactical fighter aircraft developed for the United States Air Force (USAF). The result of the USAF’s Advanced Tactical Fighter program, the aircraft was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but also has ground attack, electronic warfare, and signal intelligence capabilities. The prime contractor, Lockheed Martin, built most of the F-22’s airframe and weapons systems and did its final assembly, while Boeing provided the wings, aft fuselage, avionics integration, and training systems. The USAF considers the F-22 critical to its tactical air power, and says that the aircraft is unmatched by any known or projected fighter. The Raptor’s combination of stealth, aerodynamic performance, and situational awareness gives the aircraft unprecedented air combat capabilities. The high cost of the aircraft ( $150 million ), a lack of clear air-to-air missions due to delays in Ru

A Supersonic Bomber Designed to Outrun Anything: B-58 Hustler

Image
Designed to fly at high altitudes and at supersonic speeds, the United States Air Force‘s Convair B-58 Hustler was actually the first operational bomber capable of Mach 2 flights. The B-58 was developed in the 1950s for the Air Force’s Strategic Air Command (SAC), and relied on speed as its primary defense. The thinking at the time was that with an aircraft that flew fast enough and even high enough, the enemy couldn’t shoot it down. B-58 Hustler: A Bomber with a Purpose  For its time, the B-58 Hustler was revolutionary in many ways. It featured a radical delta wing shape, but it also included sophisticated inertial guidance navigation and bombing system, as well as a slender “wasp-waist” fuselage and extensive use of heat-resistant honeycomb sandwich skin panels in the wings and fuselage. However, the thin fuselage limited the ability to carry a bomb internally and instead was fitted with a two-component pod beneath the fuselage. It contained a nuclear weapon as well as extra f

Today’s Fastest Military Aircraft Currently In Service, Ranked

Fighter jets have come a long way from the early days of World War I. Even though air combat isn’t as common as it used to be, there’s still a need for top-flight aircraft, and advances in Technology means that several jets are capable of speeds many would have written off as science fiction. Many great aircraft such as the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird retired, yet lightning-fast engineering marvels remain in service today including fighter jets you can buy for less money than a new Ferrari. Updated September 2022: Fighter jets from America, Russia, and China are constantly advancing. We’ve reviewed this list to add more details and information surrounding the fastest Military aircraft still in operation today. A list of the world’s fastest fighter jets still in service changes all the time. Militaries today are updating (and spending more on) its most expensive fighter jets to keep their arsenals up-to-date. Today’s list of super advanced fifth-generation fighter jets is only g

The jet fighters dominate the skies for the first time since the Messerschmitt ME-262 during WW2.There were many most advanced fighter jets over the past few decades, but some of them were too deadly.Consistently being one step ahead of opponents is the most essential requirement of fighting modern dog fights.Rapid automation progress drives the development of arms and radars of the longer reaches, lower signature targets, and advanced electronic warfare.Unlike in the days of more massive artillery in the Cold war,  Technology  defines air superiority now. As the fighting environment develops, a fighter has to handle much more than ever before, quickly. Since the tactical agility and ability to adapt to future technologies are considered from the beginning, unknown functionality areas will be easily incorporated to develop 6th generation jet fighters. Here in this post, we will see the top best fighter jets in the world in 2022: 10. Electric Sky: GE’s New Catalyst Engine Can Help Hybrid Planes Take Flight By Generating Up To 1 Megawatt

Image
Hybrid planes are moving closer to takeoff. At the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh airshow Tuesday, GE Aviation said it signed a deal with XTI Aircraft Company to use GE’s Catalyst engine as the core of a new hybrid-electric propulsion system for a planned XTI Business aircraft, the TriFan 600. It’s the first step in what GE Aviation expects will be a journey that hopes to bring a new, differentiating product to the Business and general aviation market.“Hybridization enables distributed propulsion, where you have one turbine turning multiple propellers on an aircraft,” says Craig Hoover, GE Aviation’s hybrid-electric pursuits leader for its Business and general aviation unit. That’s unlike traditional turboprop engines that need a separate turbine for every propeller. It allows more hybrid planes to have more propulsion sources, freeing plane designers to rethink even the basics of aircraft design. “That enables a lot of applications, such as taking off vertically. That will be very di

The Air Force Could Retire These 8 Fighter Planes and Bombers

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein wants to fund new initiatives in connectivity, space, combat power projection, and logistics starting in 2021 — to the tune of $30 billion on top of what it is already using. One way to do that, says Todd Harrison, a defense budget analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, is to retire $30 billion worth of legacy aircraft. That is, get rid of the old stuff to make room for the new. While getting rid of these aircraft isn’t the only way to make room for the new initiatives and save $30 billion, it is the fastest route to get there, and many of the retirements make sense. Some of the planes’ missions are obsolete, some of the airframes are currently being updated with newer models, and at least one can’t even fly its primary mission due to treaty obligations. 1. Dallas Air Show Crash May Lead to More Safety Rules, Experts Say

While the cause of a deadly collision between two vintage Military aircraft at a Dallas air show to commemorate Veterans Day remains unknown, experts said Monday that the accident will likely renew discussion over whether additional safety rules are needed for such events. Safety recommendations made following aircraft accidents at similar events have focused on protecting spectators, pilot medical fitness and aircraft maintenance. “The (Federal Aviation Administration) has tightened airshow requirements. This will certainly raise the debate again,” said Steven Wallace, former director of the FAA’s office of accident investigations. On Monday, officials identified the six men killed Saturday when a World War II-era bomber and a fighter plane collided and crashed in a ball of flames at the Commemorative Air Force Wings Over Dallas show. All six were experienced aviators with years of flight training, including as current and retired airline pilots and retired Military pilots

K2 Black Panther: World’s ‘Most Expensive’ Main Battle Tank The K2 Black Panther tank, which weighs 55 to 61 tons, strengthens the South Korean tank force that currently relies on the K1 and K1A1 tanks and the Russian-made T-80 in dealing with the advance of the North Korean army’s tank armor. Due to the presence of its neighbors to the north, South Korea must constantly be prepared for the possibility of warfare. Kim Jung-un, the leader of North Korea, regularly feels the need to show that provocative actions could occur at any time, and South Korea has responded by creating a fierce military that uses updated vehicles and weapons. Among those is the K2 Black Panther main battle tank (MBT). The K2 costs a whopping $8.5 million per unit. Each unit thus represents a significant investment in South Korean defense capabilities. South Korea’s K2 Black Panther main invulnerable tank has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the  world ’s most expensive main battle tank.

Seventy-five Years After Its One and Only Flight, The Spruce Goose

Image
The year 2022 has marked several special anniversaries. It has marked 50 years of the BMW M division of course. But one other anniversary that is worth celebrating is the 75th anniversary of the first, and only flight, of the Hughes H-4 Hercules. Better known as the Spruce Goose. The Spruce Goose remains the largest flying boat ever built and one of the largest aircraft ever built in aviation history, and it was of course the works of Mr Howard Hughes and his Hughes Aircraft Company. Hughes has always been one of the most fascinating figures in the aviation world, and the Spruce Goose was perhaps the pinnacle of his aviation achievements. Yet this remarkable aircraft, designed originally as a large  Military  heavy transporter, was to make just a single and very short flight, before it was then cocooned in storage for decades. Remarkably, the Spruce Goose survives in remarkably good condition and is now the centerpiece of the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville

AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter was developed by Bell for the US Marine Corps (USMC). It evolved form the AH-1T and follows the general outlines of the AH-1 Cobra. The Super Cobra was adopted by the USMC in 1986 and is still in service. This gunship was used during the Persian Gulf ധąɾ. A total of 48 AH-1W attack helicopter s were used during that ωαя. These gunships destroyed 97 tanks, 104 armored personnel carriers, 16 bunkers and 2 anti-aircraft sites. Not a single USMC helicopter was lost during that ωαя. The main role of this attack helicopter is to provide close in fire support for landing forces during amphibious assaults and subsequent land operations. It also escorts transport helicopter s with troops. The Super Cobra has a slim fuselage with a fighter-type cockpit. The pilot sits high in the rear with a co-pilot/gunner lower in the front directing the fire of a wide range of ωєαρσиs mounted on lateral stub wings or under the nose. The front seat also has a fu

SR-71 Spy Plane Able to Evade Enemy Air Defenses Without a Scratch: The SR-71 Blackbird put the capital “E” on evasion. The enemy fired missiles at it at least 4,000 times during its lifetime and all the interceptors missed their mark, No SR-71 was damaged or lost. For example, even though an SA-2 surface-to-air-missile was slightly faster than the SR-71 (MACH 3.5 versus MACH 3.2 of the Blackbird), there was that instant when the SAM system had to identify, track, and home in on the spy plane. While this happened, the Blackbird scooted away while going four nautical miles in six seconds. The SR-71 Blackbird Outsmarted the SA-2 The SR-71 had an important jump on the Cold War-era SA-2 Guideline system. The U-2 spy plane was not as lucky. SA-2s downed a U-2 over the Soviet Union in 1960 and a U-2 over Cuba in 1962. But the SR-71 could fly at 90,000 feet and this overcame the ceiling of the SA-2 launcher. The SR-71 also had excellent countermeasures and early warning systems.

The United States tests fighter jets with deadly laser weapons

Image
The three largest aerospace companies in the world – Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Grumman Northrop – were contracted by the United States to build the most advanced laser s ever! The contract is mainly centered around laser s that could be mounted on fighter jets but ground-based and sea-based versions have been developed too. Now, testing has commenced and the results are quite outstanding! However, other countries aren’t to be left behind as they’ve come forward with impressive developments of their own. In fact, Japan, Spain, and Canada have also contracted Lockheed Martin to develop their laser weapon s. And so the race to the most lethal Laser Directed Energy Weapon is underway! So in this video, we’ll be taking a look at how 60 years of research is finally being pieced together to develop the weapon s of the future.
