Paul meets Draper

Up next for Paul - ranked No 14 - is Jack Draper, on Thursday 18 January (in Australia). British player Draper, 22, defeated Paul in Adelaide just a few days before the Australian Open started, but Paul will fancy his chances of advancing.

The daytime conditions will suit Paul, although Draper will be no pushover. The match between the pair on Kia Arena gets underway at 8:15 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday.

Draper beats Giron

Draper progressed to the second round of the Australian Open after coming back from two sets to one down to defeat Marcos Giron. The victory was Draper’s first ever five-set victory.

A defeat for Paul to Draper would see the American drop down the rankings as he is defending semi-final points from last season.
